You can't be incredulous at Smiddy3's alleged racist remark (or more correctly his alleged colour prejudice remark) when you have effectivly condemned the same group of Jehovah's Witnesses as 'heartless' and 'hypocritical'... an assumption/conclusion based on nothing more than a photo.

While I agree that there are some Jehovah's Witnesses who lack compassion, by far the majority are caring and kind individuals who have been lead astray by their beliefs.

Kramer's comment was very insightful. Claiming to know that part of London, he affirmed that the Jehovah's Witnesses who engage in the ministry where that photo was taken do in fact show kindness to homeless people, contrary to what the picture seems to insinuate.

Kramer also explained that the reason why there would have been a homeless person in near proximity to the JW stand is because of the fact it was raining heavily, so much so that it made the news. Therefore both the JWs & the homeless would have been seeking shelter at the same location.

The poor weather also explains why there are excessive Jehovah's Witnesses manning that stand.

It's far too easy to see the prejudice and faults in other people while ignoring our own.

We need to be careful of not being guilty of the things we condemn others of being, else we are no better than they are.

How condemning would it seem if there was a snapshot of the photographer taking an insensitive picture of a homeless person asleep on the street?

A picture like that could also be construed as heartless.

I'm in agreement with Drearyweather.

A mere picture doesn't convey what proceeded that shot being taken.

How could that picture convey the fact that the group of Jehovah's Witnesses may have already given that person a hot cup of coffee and a bite to eat half an hour before the picture was taken?

How do we know the homeless person wasn't inebriated?

To translate that picture with a negative connotation against the people manning that stand is a terrible assumption.

JW’s do NOT shun... (apprently)

my quora campaign of answering all jw related questions truthfully with evidence is going well.

however, one jw had the audacity to claim that "jws do not shun".

they seem to want to present a fake, squeeky clean image to non-members and seem to get angry when answering questions regarding shunning.. like this asshole, dennis cybulski.

I only wish I had more time available to contribute to your valuable efforts.
Quora really isn’t the most conducive facility to undertake the task of debating apologists. It seems ironic that a forum designed for open and informative debate has the facility to bar people from contributing to a certain dialogue.

Dirt Fishing - Latest Coin Finds

it's that time of year again when i can get back on the fields with the metal detector looking for ancient stuff.

the first field to be harvested was full of peas - ideal as it leaves no stubble and it's a two minute walk from my house.

it has given up two coins in two visits this week.. the first one is a cut-half silver penny from the reign of henry ii.

Hello Kenny.

First of all, well done for being brave enough to seek out help on a difficult situation. 15 is not an easy age to cope with.

Right now the rejection you feel might hurt a lot but I promise you that in a few years time you will think back to now and laugh. Your young mind is having to take on the onslaught of the feelings of adulthood for the first time.

Secondly, don't take this girl's rejection personally. She is rejecting your age, not you.

To put things in perspective, she is 19 and you are 15. The equivalent circumstances would be an 8 year old girl getting the hots for you and asking you out. Not such an attractive thought is it...

The reason you would not be interested in an 8 year old would be due to her age, and nothing to do with her as a person.

It is the same for the girl you are interested in. 19 is a world apart from your age, and as has been mentioned, girls that age will be looking for men a few years older than she is, because girls mature quicker than boys.

Lastly, the best advice to get over your feelings for this girl is time. I'm sure she will continue to melt your heart every time you see her, but facing those feelings and learning to cope with them is going to help you deal with the next stages in your life. Now is a great time to start learning these coping skills.

What might help is looking for girls your own age. Just don't be in a rush. You have so much to learn about yourself right now, and you are still changing. The kind of girls you like at your age now might not be the kind of girls you will like in the future.

Feelings are tough to deal with. It's going to get harder too. Use this opportunity now to grow. You won't regret it.
